Between 70 and 150 is normal

    Depends if fasting or not.

Fasting (no food x 6 hours) blood sugar is 60 to 100. Some say 70 to 100.

Sorry ilau, normal is still less than 100 regardless of whether someone has diabetes or not. Your point though of keeping sugars slightly higher in the type 1 is well taken if sugar control is difficult and your worried about hyPOglycemia. However, I think the question regards screening for diabetes, thus the less than 100 is the most important parameter.

    80 to 110

    Fasting: 60-99 mg/dL
    One Hour Post-Meal: <140 mg/dL
    Two Hours Post-Meal: <120, preferably <100

Most non-diabetics peak at 125 mg/dL 45 minutes to 1 hour after eating, but certain meals can drive you up to 140, especially if they’re VERY high in carbohydrates. By the two-hour mark, most non-diabetics return to pre-meal levels (<100). The average fasting glucose of a non-diabetic is about 83 mg/dL. Fastings consistently in the high 90s could indicate insulin resistance and maybe even prediabetes, depending on after-meal spikes.

Normal is anywhere in the 80-120 range. However for diabetics (whether type 1 or 2), that range can be expanded to 70-150. It will not always be perfect, but what matters is that your diabetes is kept under control. ——————————–
