    @azor322
    i’m taking the prescribed dose by my doctor (which is actually a range he prescribed), so i’m not really experimenting that much. :)

  • azor322:

    Be very careful when experimenting with prescription medications.
    The effects are not always known.

    i do agree, however, that it’s bad to put children on stuff they have no choice not to take – however, i just wanted to mention than antidepressants are just as fucked up as ritalin for that matter. it’s not like amphetamine = bad and antidepressant = good. both of those are potent and potentially dangerous substances.

    no, i dont do street drugs, there’s too much random crap in them, it’s way too dangerous. however, if you know basic chemistry, you just need to look at the molecules to be able to tell their chemical differences to something – there’s no need to ingest the substances to know what they do.

    @bionerd23
    so you have done speed meth and coke then?
    if not how can you be sure, it is an amphetamine well adderall is im pretty sure.
    and when it was first made it killed some kids with heart problems and it was taken off the market.
    but what im getting at is how many kids are told to take this shit by doctors, is that fare, its not a choice the kids make its the parents. your an adult and you made the choice to take, i didnt and i thnk thats pretty unfair but theres nothing i can do…

  • bionerd23:

    @TheZigZagg
    yeah, it’s a stimulant, same as meth-amphetamine or just normal ampetamine (“speed”) or cocaine. however, it’s most similar to cocaine, actually, not to meth.

    also, there are a few drugs that CAN (but dont have to) lead to some insane side-effects… did you know that about five times the normal dose of a tricyclic antidepressant is FATAL, it KILLS you? that’s just five pills instead of one, you got that right… SSRIs are known to make people suicidal or homicidal… etc.

  • TheZigZagg:

    ritalin is horrible. i was given it as a child for add and i wish i could reverse time. its a horrible experience…. it takes your personality away, it pretty much robs you from being friendly, interesting,able to have a conversation.
    i also believe it leads to DRUG abuse. isnt it in the same family of drugs as METH!
    who gives meth to a child. its pathetic

    @mjaikb2003
    nope, i’m not a professional, sadly. :)

  • mjaikb2003:

    hey!what’s your job? i think you is very professional!!!

  • Wcoltd:

    @chao129 figures – my doctor is a quack.

  • chao129:

    @Wcoltd
    strattera increases norepinephrine, not dopamine.

  • Rippedking13:

    I have nothing bad to say about adderall or ritalin they both help you out dramatically its when people abuse it when a good thing turns out to be a negative…

  • sedeki:

    Interesting, really useful info!
    Cheers from Sweden

  • ToniaTigerWoods:

    Thank you for the INFO!

    yeah, i get that on amphetamine, too – however, i did not experience these effects on ritalin. it’s just that when i start to talk to somebody, the effect starts to feel “wrong” all of a sudden, like it’s something that isnt supposed to be there. i just noticed this somewhat goes away with prolonged talking, though… oh well, i’ll give it a few weeks before i decide to quit it or not.

  • Wcoltd:

    You mentioned a side effect that it “would feel not right when you talk” (in your other video) I had that same effect when I took Stratera – a dopamine based treatment for ADHD. I felt as though I just wasn’t motivated to talk I can’t really explain it very well though. I would also fall asleep and when I woke up I had the feeling that the day before was just part of a dream – it felt like kind of a surreal experience.

  • Wcoltd:

    I took Concerta for three weeks, and I had a side effect, I would wake up in the middle night, sometimes I would write stories, but I progressively became more and more paranoid and schizophrenic. I stopped taking the medication after I woke up one night and was convinced that my neighbors were trying too steal our cable. I made this conclusion after watching them try to fix their powerline. I never did anything because knew I was probably just crazy but I felt as though I was right.

  • bionerd23:

    hmm, that sounds bad, especially as with depression, it’s often a lack of serotonine that’s causing it, so ritalin wont even really help against depression… but yeah, knowledge is power, as always.

  • ihatespam1977:

    That video explains lots of things my doctor never told me or worse yet, could be completely unaware of. Ritalin suppresses appetite and lowers blood sugar. The reason I felt so terrible when taking it could be due to hypoglycemia. I had no appetite for lunch, but naturally gravitated towards eating candy bars. In my case ADHD was probably a misdiagnosis, but at the time diagnosing depression/GAD in teens/children was taboo in the USA. Thus any problems are called ADHD for a quick fix.

  • mewrox99:

    That was quite an interesting video.

    You should do one on the effects of caffeine

  • bionerd23:

    yeah, that’s typical for an “extrasystole” of some sort. when a PAC triggers an “out of the line” ventricular contraction, the next sinus impulse will likely hit a refractory myocardium, which will lead to it being “skipped”. also, a PVC itself will feel like a skipped / weak beat, as it isnt very effective for pumping blood.
    the faster the sinus rhythm, the less “chance” for an ectopic pacemaker to actually “fire”, so it’s normal to have less PACs and PVCs when having a fast heart rate, too.

  • TomRiverstone:

    I get this quite frequently, several times a minute, and it usually goes away if my heart rate becomes faster. I also feel it if I check my pulse on my neck or arm, there’s an intermittent weak pulse, or a skipped pulse.

  • TomRiverstone:

    I’ve never had confirmed PVC’s, I’ve had plenty of PAC’s picked up on ecg’s and holter monitors, so the doctors allways tell me not to worry since those are benign. Sometimes, however, when I’m lying down at night I can feel my pulse in my fingers, and occasionally it skips, there is a pulse missing, or there is a weaker premature pulse, I don’t feel anything other than the missed pulse, I’m guessing they’re PVC’s.

  • bionerd23:

    yeah, automated EKG interpretations can often be wrong… especially when they interpret extrasystoles as e.g. bundle branch block, hypertrophy, or an S-T segment depression. i wouldnt worry about it too much, as long as your echo is okay and the doctor says you’re okay, too.
