I am eating very healthy and exercising 45 minutes a day vigorously. I was just prescribed Metformin – was told to take half dose to see if my blood sugars stabilize. They have gone from 277 to 172 to 164 in three days but this is still too high. Doctor said if it wasn’t below 130 to increase dosage but I don’t know how long I should wait.

I got my fasting blood glucose tested and the reading was 113.Am I diebetic? If yes, what precautions should I take to bring down the fasting blood glucose level? I am 45 years of age, height 178 cms weight 70 kgs.Please also suggest if there is any substitute for sugar.I have heard about brands like “Sugar Free” and “Equal” but I am not sure whether it is advisable to go for the artificial sweetners. As of now I have stopped taking direct sugar in any form.What is the recommended diet?
