After getting pre-diabetes blood sugar to normal is it safe to eat sugary and oily things again?
After checking with fasting blood sugar and post-prandial tests, my post-prandial blood sugar was showing 143, so I went on a strict diet and exercise routine and within 2 weeks, my fasting blood sugar showed 89 and post-prandial blood sugar showed 116. So, is it safe now for me to start eating sugary and oily foods once again, or will blood sugar go up once again, and do I have to still continue with my strict dieting and exercise routine?

No, you will always have to eat right. Continue doing what you have been doing and test often. Go the doc on a regular basis
Definitely need to stay on track. Avoid white flour and sugar and eat whole grains, no white rice but brown rice. Look at ingredients and make sure there is no high fructose corn syrup in it. This spikes your blood sugar and gives you cravings to eat more. Drink lots of water and avoid sodas including diet sodas…………..
No, you most certainly may not. That was your body telling you that you need a LIFE change, not just a temporary change to continue the same bad habits. You have done an excellent job in getting your blood sugar back to safer levels, but you should consider that the beginning of the rest of you r life when it comes to how you consume food. There are many ways to still get the rewarding benifits of sweet treats, and less oily versions of the foods you love. I would suggest taking a trip tp Borders books or getting on the web and taking advantage of the web and getting yourself some reallly great new recipes in your recipe box. Take heart, life isn’t over, its merely changed a bit. Blessings!
Did you have your blood sugar tested at a lab? If you only used a home glucose monitoring test kit, do not rely on these numbers. Home glucose meters can be up to 20% off, this is allowed by law.
If those numbers are from a glucose tolerance test done by a lab, then you are going to have to watch what you eat for the rest of your life and I would encourage you to get your numbers down to 70 to 100 fasting, and post prandial under 125 consistently, if you can.
The best way to do this is not to just cut carbs and fat, but to exercise daily for life. If you can lose about 10 to 15% of your body weight, you are a lot more likely to keep diabetes away for as long as possible. You may eventually still get it, but it could be a long way off, if you are persistent with diet and exercise.
Try to vary your exercise routine every day, and work in some walking. Walking helps step up your metabolism, and keep your body burning fat for longer than aerobic exercises (like running or anything that makes you more breathless).
Good luck with your efforts!
Even full blown diabetics CAN have some sugar and higher fat foods on occasion, but only in moderation.
You have to consider that the ONLY way to prevent diabetes or put it off is to eat a healthy diet MOST of the time and to exercise regularly. So no you can’t just go back and eat junky food…but you don’t have to be super strict either.
If you start to eat sugar and oil again, your blood sugars will go up again. You can try to add a little bit occasionally to see how it affects your sugars and find a balance.
